MPP Segment Report — October 2025

At the port of Bronka, both heavy-lift 350-ton cranes remain out of service. This significantly limits the handling of heavy and oversized cargo, increases reliance on vessel cranes, and leads to higher operational costs and longer waiting times.

Against this backdrop, logistics companies are forced to seek alternatives: using specialized MPP vessels equipped with powerful onboard cranes, deploying mobile heavy-capacity cranes, or rerouting cargo to ports with the necessary equipment. Each of these solutions increases transportation costs and transit time, but in many cases remains the only way to meet customer obligations.

Key Observations

  • The shortage of heavy port equipment increases demand for MPP vessels with high-capacity cranes.
  • Project cargo and heavy steel shipments require more careful planning of loading windows and vessel reservation.
  • On major routes Asia → Russian Far East / North-West Russia, rates show a downward trend due to market pressure despite local operational constraints.
Period Summary: the shortage of heavy lifting equipment in ports and limited availability of MPP tonnage keep the market under pressure. To maintain supply chain predictability, early vessel booking, additional time buffers, and development of alternative routes and ports are essential.
